The Obligatory Aborted Project

Below are some stills from my original idea for a Gone With The Wind-esque story about a small underwater creature who escapes a science lab to find his true love. Much like the real Gone With The Wind it proved far too epic, but frankly my dear... I don't give a damn.

Brand Power

The next step is to design the props necessary to make Bootsy's world feel more like a believable one. The main props in this piece will obviously be beer & whiskey bottles. Therefore I have created some specifically southern beverage companies with an assortment of options on both labels & brand names. These will be scattered about the set, and are designed to reflect the quite frankly drunken nature of the character but also to convey a sense of the filth and despair our main character wallows in...

Also to add to the feeling of isolation I designed Bootsy's favourite one man ready meal (the bachelor's choice) The Lonely Yeoman's most popular recipe; The Rat Hole Steamer...

What Makes A Man A Man.

A man is nothing without a woman apparently. Well that's rubbish, a man is nothing without the things he owns. Sadly, that doesn't make Bootsy much of a man. Seeing as he owns very little other than a stolen pair of soiled underwear, a bootlegged truckers hat, a knock-off television and a thoroughly soiled armchair (also stolen). Below are numerous design of all the paraphernalia that would make Bootsy's home a home, including arm chair, television and hat designs...

As you can see from the above I have gone as much as possible for a slightly more old school feel, somewhere around the 1960's as I rationalised that an Elk out in the middle of nowhere would have restricted access to modern day technology or creature comforts. I have also attempted to give everything a grimey appearance to help convey both the feelings of abandonment & despair that Bootsy is feeling. Overall I am pleased with the rural effect of the work.
